UW Tacoma Child Care and Family Resources
Childcare & Family Support Services at UW Tacoma offers a variety of resources to assist you in your success as a student. Juggling work and a family while trying to achieve an education can be extremely exhausting and difficult at times. Our hope is to provide support and assistance throughout your experience and fulfill your needs to help you reach graduation and beyond.
The Multicultural Child and Family Hope Center has a broad array of programs including early learning, parenting support, addiction services, support groups, sexual assault/domestic violence support, flexible financial assistance, housing resources, and mentoring programs.
The Office of Student Advocacy and Support provides referral and support services to students. Using a case management model, students are assisted in navigating on and off campus resources. The purpose of this office is to assist students in developing strategies to overcome and address barriers that prevent them from achieving their educational and life goals.
ECEAP (pronounced "E-Cap") is the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program funded by Washington State for children 3 and 4. Head Start is funded by the federal government for children ages 3 and 4 and, in some locations, pregnant women and children birth to age 3. Both ECEAP and Head Start include: -Free early learning child care or preschool to support child's development and learning. In some locations, Head Start may also offer home-based services. -Family support and parent involvement. -Child health coordination and nutrition. -Services responsive and appropriate to each child's and family's heritage and experience.
Child Care Aware of Washington is our state’s most thorough and accessible source of information and support in early care and education (birth to 12 years).
We work alongside families, child care providers, caregivers, and communities to meet the diverse and specialized learning needs of every child in our state. We use data and story to influence policy makers, system leaders and our partners to ensure every child in Washington has equitable access to quality learning experiences.
